AUSWEB WorldPay
Solution
Using WorldPay streamlines the process of accepting
credit card payments through your website. If you use a merchant
account through your bank you also require a payment gateway through
a 3rd party provider, which is an additional cost, so the payments
can be processed and deposited into your bank. You then require
these features to be integrated into your shopping cart.

WorldPay
offer an Internet Merchant Account and payment processing service
in one package, that enables you to accept a wide range of payments
over the internet. It opens up new markets, allowing you to trade
in most global currencies. WorldPay is part of the The Royal Bank
of Scotland Group, the 5th biggest banking group in the world,
WorldPay payment solutions are trusted by thousands of businesses,
big and small. Application for a WorldPay account can be made
online at http://www.WorldPay.com
Initial Application Fees vary depending on your requirements starts
from only around AUD $500
Another great feature is the multi
currency options!
You can process your transaction in AUD $ , US $ , Pounds , euros
or whatever other currencies you choose.
Fraud checking is a very important part of the service that WorldPay offers.
Standard checks on every transaction they process (in 'real-time' - so while
the shopper waits for confirmation), by communicating with the card issuer,
to see that:
- the card number is
valid
- the card has not
expired
- the card is not recorded
as lost or stolen, and
- there are available
funds in the account
They also make real-time checks on the card details entered by shoppers, by using
whichever anti-fraud measures your account employs. As part of their standard
service, WorldPay communicates with the card issuer to verify the following details
as entered by shoppers:
- Address Verification - AVS
checking the address details entered by shoppers
- cardholder authentication schemes
(such as MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa), where the
shopper enters a password to confirm their identity with the
card issuer - a good way to ensure that the shopper really
is the cardholder (the person to whom the card was issued)
WorldPay also offers an extra feature of Deferred Payment / pre-authorisation.
This allows you to freeze the transaction after the shopper thinks
they have completed the purchase, while you make some extra checks
(before taking payment and making delivery). This service is very
important with transactions inolving larger amounts of money,
as charge back fees for fraudulent transactions can further reduce
your profit margin. Using this feature the transaction is not
finally processed until you approve it.
Once you have setup your WorldPay account, it needs
to be integrated into your shopping cart so the payments can be
processed by WorldPay. AUSWEB staff are very experienced at intergrating
the WorldPay solution into shopping carts, we charge a very reasonable
fee of $295 for this service.
C.O.D
This option costs nothing to set up, you must advise the customer that there
will be an extra charge for C.O.D, as Australia Post charges a fee for C.O.D.
Australia Post will take delivery of your payment when it is collected, and
return any payments to you by money order.
Direct Deposit
This is another payment option that is free
to set up. Once a customer has made a purchase, you advise them
of your bank account details, then once you receive confirmation
from your bank that the payment has been made you can ship their
goods.
PayPal
PayPal is becoming a very popular payment option, it costs nothing for you to
setup a PayPal account and they have very reasonable processing fees of 1.1%
to 2.4% + $0.30 AUD for each transaction. PayPal offers 2 payment solutions,
The first is for customers that have a PayPal account, they simply pay the money
to your PayPal account.
The 2nd solution allows customers to shop on your website then make payment
at the PayPal website with a credit card, when the transaction is completed,
they are returned to your website.

Merchant Account With Your Bank
Using a merchant account through
your bank, also requires a payment gateway to be setup through
a 3rd party provider. This gateway is used to securely process
the payments from your website shopping cart then deposit the
money into your bank's merchant account. There are many different
payment gateways available, so you will need to check with your
bank to find out which gateways their system supports. Then you
have to integrate the payment gateway into your website's shopping
cart, you need to check carefully which payment gateway can be
integrated into your shopping cart, as some payment gateways may
not be compatible with the particular shopping cart software that
you are using for your eCommerce website.
As there are several variables involved
with the payment gateway to merchant account option, make sure
you check the setup fees, ongoing fee's and transaction fees carefully
as they can add up to a large amount of money that reduces your
profit margin. One of the major drawbacks with this method of
accepting payments on your website is that you may have to pay
fees per transaction to both your bank and the gateway provider.
